Coolbean, Dr. Damon Smith, Dr. Spyros Mourtzinis, Dr. Tatiane Severo Silva and Dr. Jason Lo, all at University of Wisconsin-Madison, are conducting a research study titled LLMs Application for Farm Management Insight: A Comparative Case Study. They are reaching out to soybean experts, asking for their insights.
The purpose of the study is to explore how large language models (LLMs) can support farm management decision-making. If a growers chooses to participate, they will be asked to complete a short survey, which should take approximately 30 minutes. It’s asked that the survey is completed by COB June 30. Participation is completely voluntary, and growers are free to opt out at any time.
The survey asks for farmer views on using AI for research synthesis. The UW-Madison team used various AI systems to create soybean farm management plans. Please note that the recommendations are general for the U.S. and are not site-specific. The prompt used in each AI system was simply, “Create a soybean farm management plan tailored to U.S. conditions.” The management plans are shortened versions and may not include full references, as the researchers are mindful of participant’s time. It’s asked that participants evaluate five management plans based on the guided question. Responses are confidential and used only for research.
