Thomas Perlick (left) was elected to represent District 1. Matt Wagenson was elected to again serve District 7.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection certified the results of the 2026 election, which concluded Aug. 15. Perlick and Wagenson began their terms Sept. 1.

Perlick will represent District 1, which includes Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Chippewa, Clark, Douglas, Iron, Marathon, Portage, Price, Rusk, Sawyer, Taylor, Washburn and Wood counties.

Wagenson will represent District 7, which includes Brown, Calumet, Door, Florence, Forest, Kewaunee, Langlade, Lincoln, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Oneida, Outagamie, Shawano, Vilas and Waupaca counties.

“We’re please to have Matt back for another term,” said WSMB President Jonathan Gibbs. “Matt has been an invaluable member of the board and serves as the vice president.”

Gibbs said Perlick will replace longtime director Andy Bensend, though he won’t be too far away after being appointment to the United Soybean Board earlier in 2026.

“We certainly thank Andy for all of his hard work representing Wisconsin soybean farmers over the years,” Gibbs said. “We’re also excited for Thomas to join the board. New ideas and fresh perspectives are essential for a healthy board structure.”

The Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board consists of soybean producers representing seven districts across the state. Board members oversee the investment of approximately $2.4 million in assessment fees paid by Wisconsin soybean farmers. Checkoff investments support soybean research, market development, education and promotion.
